2006-07 Voting Record

The voice of Labor spoke loud and clear in Springfield during the last two legislative sessions.  And although, at times, the atmosphere at the State House was turbulent and frustrating, Labor still played an important role in passing major legislation that benefits working families including; raising the Illinois minimum wage to one of the highest levels in the nation, cracking down on unscrupulous building contractors who exploit workers, forcing local school boards to justify privatizing public service jobs, and preventing Illinois employers from using a flawed federal worker data base that is discriminatory to say the least.

In addition, Democrat Alexi Giannoulias was elected State Treasurer.  Senate President Emil Jones Jr. saw his majority increase by six seats to 37-22.  And Speaker of the House Michael Madigan picked up an additional seat to control a 66-52 majority.  Then in May 2007, Representative Paul Froehlich changed parties becoming the 67th Democrat in the House. . . .
